From Roof Unit to Basement Storage: A Heat Pump for a Single-Family Home in Hamburg.
9 kW heating load, concealed piping
In a single-family home in Hamburg, an OVUM Heat Pump with a heating capacity of 9 kW replaced the previous rooftop unit. Instead of being located in the attic, the new buffer tank is now in the basement, which required the installation of additional piping. The connection line to the outdoor unit was routed underneath the Heat Pump and is therefore not visible from the outside.

From the roof control center to the basement storage room
The conversion was based on a heating load calculation for the single-family home, which yielded a heating load of 9 kW. What made this project unique was the building itself: The existing heating system was located in the attic. During the installation, it was replaced by a new buffer tank in the basement. Since heat distribution now originates from a new location within the building, additional piping had to be installed.
Care was also taken to ensure a discreet exterior design: The connection line between the outdoor unit and the building was routed beneath the Heat Pump, making it invisible from the outside.

Because the buffer tank is no longer located in the attic but in the basement, the building’s heat distribution system had to be rerouted. Compared to a simple replacement at the same location, this required more work in laying the piping between the floors. The control panel on the buffer tank allows for continuous monitoring of the Plant.
