A family in Söll is replacing their oil-fired heating system with a modern heat pump

In Söll, the old oil-fired heating system was replaced with a modern heat pump system—for efficient heating and hygienic hot water.

Until now, consumption has been around 2,500 liters of heating oil per year. A solution based on renewable energy is replacing dependence on fossil fuels.

From Oil Heating to Heat Pumps

Previously, an oil-fired heating plant—which consumed approximately 2,500 liters of heating oil per year—met the building’s heating needs. As part of the modernization, the plant was completely converted to a heat pump solution. At the heart of the system is the OVUM AC417P heat pump, supplemented by a fresh water station for hot water production and the electrical connection to the existing photovoltaic system.

Scope of Work for the Modernization

The conversion encompassed the entire technical process, from the old system to the heat pump ready for operation:

  • Removal and disposal of the old oil-fired heating system, including the steel tank (3,750 liters)
  • Excavation, foundation, and core drilling work in preparation for the new plant
  • Installation of the AC417P Heat Pump with Fresh Water Technology
  • Electrical connection, including connection to the existing PV plant
  • Commissioning and Handover of the Plant

Why switch from oil to a heat pump?

Switching from an oil-fired heating system to a heat pump reduces dependence on fossil fuels and fluctuating oil prices and lowers the heating system’s CO₂ emissions. In addition, the space previously required for the oil tank is no longer needed. When combined with a photovoltaic system, self-generated electricity can also be used for heating.

Dismantling, drilling, heating installation, electrical connections, and commissioning were all handled by a single point of contact. All trades were coordinated and carried out in a coordinated manner.
